Annelijn Wensing-Kruger is a Health Psychologist, Head of the Gender and Sexology Section of the department of Medical Psychology and Chair of the Center of Expertise on Gender Dysphoria at Amsterdam UMC. She is trained in Child and Youth Psychology as well as Clinical Psychology.
With over 15 years of experience in transgender health care, she has a focus on improving care pathways, knowledge and creating networks in the field of transgender health care. Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of medicine and psychology, specializing in medical psychology and consistently operating at various interdisciplinary boundaries
Transgender health care in childhood and adolescence: History, concepts, and practice
Gender diversity is increasingly becoming a topic of discussion in the lives of young people, in the media, and in the consulting rooms of healthcare psychologists working in child and youth services. This lecture focuses on gender diversity within child an adolescent care.
It will guide the audience through the history of transgender healthcare, introduce key concepts and definitions, and address current clinical challenges in the field. Particular attention will be given to the rapidly evolving nature of transgender healthcare, highlighting the diversity and complexity of care pathways, clinical presentations, and trajectories of gender development.
