Suicidal behaviours prevention
This symposium focuses on intervention and research in suicide prevention. Suicide is a complex and multifactorial phenomenon and is the leading cause of death most strongly associated with psychological factors. Psychological science therefore carries a critical responsibility to advance research that enhances our understanding of the underlying mechanisms, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions, and informs the development of evidence-based policies and practices.
The symposium brings together three presentations illustrating how psychological research can contribute to suicide prevention across the family context, educational settings, and suicide prevention helplines.
