IGNASI NAVARRO

Ignasi Navarro Soria is a Permanent Laboral Professor in the Department of Developmental Psychology and Didactics at the Faculty of Education of the University of Alicante, where he has worked full-time as a lecturer and researcher since late 2021. He holds a PhD from the University of Alicante, with a thesis on cognitive, academic, and sociodemographic variables predictive of academic performance in primary education (2016), and is a member of the GINTA (Integrated Research Group on Typical and Atypical Neurodevelopment) and GIPEC (Research Group on Developmental Psychology and Criminology) research groups, in the latter serving as coordinator.

He began his professional career as a School Psychologist, working for ten academic years at the Municipal Psychological Office of El Campello, where he served as a school counselor in the four public schools of the municipality. He later collaborated with the Drug Dependency Prevention team of the Alicante City Council. His research focuses on neurodevelopment, ADHD, ASD, high abilities, and foster care, with publications in internationally indexed journals.

Executive Functions and ADHD: Assessment, Cognitive Profiles and Training

ADHD is one of the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood and adolescence, with an estimated incidence of 6–8% worldwide. Its cognitive characterization, the evaluation of differential profiles, and the role of executive functions are priority research lines in both clinical and educational settings.

This monographic panel brings together four presentations that address, from complementary perspectives, the relationship between executive functions and ADHD: the usefulness of Wechsler scales as a complementary assessment tool, the characterization of cognitive profiles in large samples, the understanding of the double exceptionality ADHD–high intellectual performance, and the available evidence on executive function training.
